Joe Burns, Graduate (M.S.) Student

Joe received his B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in soil science and hydrology from Stockton University located in Galloway, New Jersey. Joe finished his Master’s program at NC State in 2021, focused on projects involving poultry litter.

 

Kayleigh Heather, Undergraduate REU Summer Intern

Kayleigh is pursuing a B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, with minors in Civic Agriculture and Green Engineering. In the summer of 2021, Kayleigh conducted a summer project focused on the efficacy of ANVOL (by Koch Agronomics) in various cropping systems, identifying the impact of cover crop type, cover management, and nitrogen application timing on ammonia volatilization.

 

 

Maggie “Shupe” Shupe, Undergraduate Intern

Shupe received her B.S. in Natural Resources, with a concentration in soil, water, and land use in 2022. Shupe assisted with field and lab operations for many projects.

 

 

 

Steph Sosinski, Graduate (M.S.) Student and Research Technician

Steph received her B.S. in Sustainable Agriculture in 2009 from the University of Maine, Orono and her M.S. in Crop Science from NC State. She was also the Research Technician for the Forage and Grassland Management Lab from 2016 to 2021. The focus of Steph’s Master’s project evaluated nitrogen source and rate effects on crabgrass productivity, forage quality, and weed competition in a hay-production system. Steph’s previous agricultural experience includes working with UMaine Cooperative Extension and on various farms in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and North Carolina.

Grace Kilroy, Research Technician

Grace completed her B.S. in Animal Science from NC State University. She has a varied background in agricultural experience, and lead field and lab operations and maintenance of many ongoing projects from 2019 through 2022.
